In the field of conservation genetics, much importance for protecting the wild life and domestic animal species and their habitats. In India, the genetic diversity of domestic sheep breeds is declining and results in breed dilution due to cross- breeding, inter-crossing of sheep germplasm and modern agricultural practices. For my Ph.D, I have focused to understand the genetic variability and diversity exist among different Indian sheep breeds using mtDNA markers.

I am interested in understanding the genetic regulation involved with the physiological process of egg production in ducks. Studies have reported that the ovulation process plays a vital role in the egg production rate and based on the successful ovulation of the ova the egg is obtained. Scientists believe that there are thousands of ovarian follicles that can ovulate, but they are unsuccessful to complete the follicular stages. My study is based on this ovarian follicles and to analyze the genes responsible for egg production trait.
